Title:  SQL DBA

Specific Job Responsibilities:

This position is temporary while a staff member is on leave. This position is responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of the most complex physical databases in support of various business applications. Persons in this position participates in the development and implementation of short and long term database strategies of multi-user, multi-functional systems. They are also responsible to develop solutions that meet business objectives that optimize the use and accessibility of data while ensuring effective data management through the collaboration between systems, Quality Assurance, and application groups

Experience/Skill Set and Education Level:

Technical Skills Required:

·         SQL 2005 and 2008. Windows 2003 and 2008. Good understanding of SAN tech.

·         Experience in performance metrics and tuning helpful

·         Required Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

·         Plans, designs and documents standards of physical data. Also supports the implementation of databases on a variety of platforms.

·         Contributes to the review and design of new or existing systems. Reviews technical and data standards to ensure compatible integration with other resources.

·         Maximizes the efficiency of all production and non-production databases to ensure that the design of data structures complies with standards and guidelines.

·         Determines when database structures should be reorganized and monitors file system space, database allocation and the appropriate use of disk storage and space allocation at predefined regular intervals.

·         Supports Quality Assurance roles by participating in the development of test and QA database environments. Creates production tests by creating data load programming and utility functions for each environment as well as the systems testing and implementation plan.

·         Configures database parameters and prototypes designs, defines data warehouse requirements as well as installs and upgrades to relational databases and related products in order to maintain up to date release and maintenance standards to ensure a stable production and development environment.

·         Works with patching process and team to ensure appropriate database and infrastructure systems patches work with the applications and are applied in a timely manner.

·         Works with the application development and systems group to recommend and plan for new infrastructure upgrades before the infrastructure system and database are expired.

·         Prepares and present technical database information to peers and application support teams for appropriate knowledge transfer.
